Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Chairside (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and related applications (the “Service”).
1. Information we collect
Information you provide. For example: account details (such as email), photos you upload (which may include facial features as part of the full image), prompts and follow-up edit requests, generated preview images, saved styles, subscription information, and communications you send us.
Information collected automatically. For example: device and app identifiers, basic log and diagnostic data, and approximate location derived from IP where needed for security or compliance.
Cookies and similar technologies. We and our partners may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, analytics, and fraud prevention, as permitted by law.
2. Face data
Chairside helps you preview haircuts on photos you choose. We do not use facial recognition, create face maps, or build biometric profiles. When you upload a photo, facial features may appear as part of that image. We treat the photo as a whole — we do not extract, catalog, or store face data separately from the image.
- We do not collect face geometry, face templates, or biometric identifiers.
- Facial features in your photo are processed only to generate an AI haircut preview.
- We do not use photos or facial features for advertising, profiling, or identity verification.
- We do not sell face data or photos to third parties.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and improve the Service; generate and refine AI haircut previews; save, share, or export images at your direction; authenticate users; personalize features; process transactions; communicate about the Service; secure our systems; comply with law; and understand aggregate usage trends.
4. AI processing and third-party services
Chairside uses Google Gemini (Google LLC) as its third-party AI provider. Before your first generation, the app asks for your permission and explains what data is sent and who receives it.
When you generate a preview, the following data may be sent from your device to our secure server and then to Google Gemini for processing:
- Text prompts and follow-up edit requests you submit;
- Photos you choose to upload (which may include facial features as part of the full image);
- Prior conversation turns in a multi-turn editing session, when applicable.
We do not send your name, email, or payment information to Google Gemini. Data is encrypted in transit. Google Gemini processes data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following: performance of a contract with you; legitimate interests (such as security and product improvement, balanced against your rights); your consent where required; and legal obligations.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Google Gemini (Google LLC), who processes your prompts and photos solely to generate AI previews, subject to Google's terms and privacy policy;
- Other service providers that help us operate the Service (for example, hosting, authentication, analytics, notifications, payment processing, and image storage), subject to confidentiality and security requirements;
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security;
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required.
7. Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes such as security, backups, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Photos and prompts are processed to generate previews and are not stored by us as a separate face database. Session images are cached locally on your device until you delete them. Face-related information is retained only as part of photos you keep on your device or in your session until you delete them.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. International transfers
If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards where required by law.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise rights, contact chairsidestudio@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request.
12. California notice
If the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) applies, California residents may have additional rights regarding personal information, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising where applicable. We do not knowingly “sell” personal information as defined by the CCPA.
13. Changes
We may update this Policy by posting a new version and updating the effective date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
